The Book in Brief: A Video History

And the book goes on . . .

For centuries, the book has been the site where culture and technology meet. Here, in period images, is an abbreviated history of the handheld device that has stood the test of time--the book! Take a quick tour of how it happened, from Gutenberg to the Victorians. That's five centuries in about as many minutes! Produced by http://www.helpingyougetpublished.com/

Why Join the Writers' Union of Canada (TWUC)?

The many answers to the above question have been tweeted @twuc and can also be found on Facebook at TWUC #WhyIJoin. Here's my contribution to TWUC's #WhyIJoin initiative...

From the first article I ever published, to later books, I always wanted as much professional information about writing and publishing as I could get. In the early days of my career, this was a challenge. But now, TWUC keeps me informed on the latest issues and trends that are crucial to professional book authors. So here, in a word--and a video--is #WhyIJoin: PROFESSIONALISM

Subject to a peer review of the commercial viability of their books, self-published authors can now join TWUC.

Writing Romance . . . with a Passion!

As the Romance writers of America (RWA) organization has shown, romance writing is a billion-dollar-a-year industry, and the romance genre is the top-performing category on several major best-seller lists.

The video below is a tribute to the romance genre and designed with two main aims in view:
  • to encourage novice romance writers to keep on working at their craft
  • to inspire other writers to explore the genre and consider adding romance writing to their repertoire
